About Kartwerks

Kartwerks is a new entity on the karting scene for 2013 but in reality is the final piece of a puzzle ten years in the making. What started as a small family race team with two young drivers a decade ago has progressed in to a customer service driven program that is among the fastest growing teams in North America.

Following stints as General Manager of Turn1 ProSports - The Karting ProShop at BeaveRun and later the Karting/ProShop Manager & Motorsports Director at Pittsburgh International Race Complex, Dan Schlosser set his sights on building a team focused on the families that make karting such a unique and special sport.

Schlosser’s experience included running every aspect of a karting facility - Rental Karts, Corporate Events, Leagues, Race Series, National Events, Pro Shop Sales and more. The close of the 2012 season was a crowning achievement with the track returning to race entry levels not seen in five years, a brimming slate of National events and a ProShop boasting the title of the #1 Birel dealer in North America.

The success of the programs overall unfortunately resulted in less time spent with the new families looking to enter the sport and less time helping the more established racers reach the next level.

“I learned from our experiences entering the sport with my family how important it is to have proper support early on and how much it means to have someone truly vested in your program as the racers develop. That became my passion as I took over the karting program at BeaveRun/Pitt Race and the families & racers that I’ve brought in to the sport and helped grow and develop over the years.”

Opportunity presented itself at the close of the 2012 season that was the perfect combination of the right people, products and timing to allow the formation of what has become Kartwerks, LLC.

“It was difficult to walk away from something I dedicated so much of myself to but the chance to build my own program and control my own destiny was a chance I could not pass up. To return to my roots and be able to dedicate my time to the racers and families - whether it is introducing them to the sport locally or taking them to the highest levels of the sport Nationally is a dream come true!”

Kartwerks is the regional dealer for the 2012 World Championship winning Praga Kart brand, working closely with US Distributor Praga Karts USA / Jay Howard’s Motorsports Driver Development.

Kartwerks also offers full Pro Shop services including new and used karts & parts sales and service.

Kartwerks specializes in bringing new families in to the sport through instructional and coaching programs as well as arrive & drive programs.

Kartwerks provides coaching, tuning and data services for all racers.

Kartwerks has travel programs for testing and racing including transportation, tent/pit arrangements, tuning and coaching for all WKA Manufacturer’s Cup, Great Lakes Sprint Series and United States Pro Kart Series events.
